NSW Compliance Deadline

Is your business ready for the 1 July 2026 mandate?

From 1 July 2026, NSW businesses and institutions that sell or handle food must source-separate food waste from general waste. Non-compliance carries penalties of up to $500,000 plus $50,000 per day for ongoing breaches. EcoKhaya's compliance consulting and on-site composting solutions are specifically designed to get businesses audit-ready before the deadline.

🔍

Contamination & Bin Audits

Councils — Core Service

Our field-based contamination audits give councils the data they need to target education, demonstrate progress to state government, and protect compost quality. We assess kerbside FOGO bins by contamination rate, type, and geographic location — producing hotspot maps and actionable recommendations.

What's included
  • Field assessment of 50–500+ bins per audit round
  • Contamination rate by street, suburb or collection route
  • Contaminant type breakdown (plastic bags, liners, general waste, etc.)
  • Suburb-level hotspot map
  • Liner compliance analysis (AS 4736 vs. non-compliant)
  • Written report with prioritised recommendations
  • Quarterly monitoring program available
